Race Report by John Sainz
May 21,2011:
What a night! It was a crazy weather day at Oakland Valley Speedway today with
some early rain showers, then clearing in the afternoon. Track was in excellent
shape for practice with plenty of grip. It was going to be fast. Then after the
drivers meeting the skies opened up and it poured. We thought it was the end of
the world! Anyway, after the rain delay, John Diotte and his crew got to work
and got the track in very good condition. We were racing! Then as the features started, the fog rolled
in. Visibility was a little tough at times, but we went on with the races. The
features started with the popular Heavys class, with Bill Wood taking the win.
Blake Hulseapple looked good in the Kid Kart class and Devin Greer took the win
in Rookie Champ over Jake Mason. The Rookie Slingshot class had Jared Labagh
winning over Carly Dippel. In the Lights class, Steven Gully took the win over
Dylan Wood, his first this year.
In the Junior Slingshot class, Kevin
Predmore,Jr. took the win over Tyler Johnston and Erin
Paulison. It was Kevin’s first win this season. In Junior Sportsman Champ, Sean
Glennon looked to be hooked up pretty well and cruised to his second win this
year. Anthony Wood came home second with Ryan Quackenbush third. In Junior
Clone, Trevor Ross continues to impress in his win over an improving Andrew
Enderes,Jr. Junior1/Rookie class had Anthony Roselli
taking the win and Colin Belanger took the win in Junior 2. The Junior Stock
class had Scott Bentley taking the win over Kyle Fuertges. Dominick Roselli
took the win in Junior 3 over Charlie Lowther and Patrick Hayes.
In the Mediums class it was Roger
Belanger running away from the field to take the win, his second in a row.
Senior Stock saw Larry Rose take the win over James Brundage. The Senior
Slingshot class had Eddie Reiley get his second win in as many races, over Matt
Reiley. The Senior Champ class had John Sainz taking the win.
We had the World Formula Modified Tour on
hand this week and with twelve entered, it was a great show. Paul Pairo picked
up the win over always fast Tommy Kosch. It’s always great to see these guys at
Oakland Valley Speedway.
We also had a special race to benefit
Saint Judes Childrens Research Hospital. The Senior race had eleven entered and
it was Bill Wood taking the win with Roger Belanger closing in on him finishing second. We
want to thank these racers for participating in this charity race. Most of the
drivers donated their winnings to the charity after the race. There was also a
Junior Race-a-Thon with Scott Bentley taking the win.
We would like to thank the people that
sponsored this charity race and they are;

Thanks
again to our racers and sponsors for their support.
We will be closed next week, so we will
see you at the track in two weeks with the Unlimited All- Stars and World
Formula Modified Tour scheduled to appear. Have a happy and safe Memorial weekend.
Be sure to stop in to JK Performance Kart shop located at the track. John
Diotte,Jr. has everything you need to get started
racing including rental karts. He also builds great racing engines. There is a
brand new Millenium Impulse kart on display at the kart shop. Stop in and check
it out. Also be sure to see Becky of BK Photos for all your photos from the
day’s events. Pictures are posted on her website at bkphotos.net.
Thanks
