047: Jimmy Bryan. He came out of retirement to fill in for Rodger Ward at Langhorne, Pa on June 19, 1960, because Ward did no tlike racing at Langhorne. Bryan was fatally injured on the first turn, first lap of the100 mile race. | |
049: ARDC midget driver Jim DiMarco in his # 98 Offy. His cars were always spotless. | |
In 1947 Bill Schindler won 53 features with the ARDC here in the east, and he wasn't the driving champion! He duplicated that amount of wins (53) again, in 1948 and did win the championship. Schindler, who was born in Middletown, NY was one of the original members of the ARDC when it was formed in1939, and was it's first President. He was the ARDC driving champion in 1940, 1945, 1946 & 1948 | |
