The Internet – what’s being said

                                                                             Article # 3

                                                                         By Tom Avenengo

With the possibility of my copying and pasting what’s being said on the Internet, not being quite “Kosher”, and the possibility of problems brought about to the websites I do these articles for, as well, as possible problems for myself, as well, I’ve had to make drastic changes in these articles.  No longer will I be copying and pasting,  I’ll give you the links to various websites, message boards and forums and will make mention of what the subject might be about, and maybe a little commenting on it, too.

With me no longer copying and pasting, I’ll be able to supply more links to more of what might be considered controversial or informative.

So this week, I’ll start off with what was originally for the third article of the series.

This was found on the Track Forum, and was titled:  The "Drive For Diversity" hits a bump in the road.   To start the subject, it was about a blond Puerto Rican driver that was suing NASCAR because he, in a way, didn’t fit the “mold” of those that are in the Drive for Diversity program, and was excluded from it.

I guess the one main thing that hit a nerve was that one official had said that “He was like a poster boy for the KKK, and that they could not have him in the “Combine” – or words to that effect.

There were quite a few things said – both pro and con, on this subject.  Quite a bit of “bickering” among some of those that responded, too.

Tony George news:

With Tony George no longer involved, to an extent, with the Indianapolis Speedway and the IRL, there’s been some speculating about him possibly being interested in buying the IRL.  So far, not so, per the article, below:

http://www.indystar.com/article/20100129/SPORTS0107/100129027/Not-interested-in-buying-IRL-George-says

Vision closed

Along with no interest in buying the IRL, Tony George has also closed the doors to the Vision race team – a team that has his stepson as its driver.  As of Monday, February 1st, this has gone up to 23 pages now.

What will Tony George do?

For those thinking you've heard the last of Tony George. . .”  Only 7 pages, so far, but some interesting things being said.

The IRL – is it worth anything, today?  Some say yes, it is, while others say no, it isn’t.

This past weekend down in Atlantic City, they had their annual indoor racing events.  There is a video out about an accident, and from that video, there are quite a few things being said on the South Jersey Dirt Racing’s message board.  You might have to register to read what’s being said, both pro and con, about how things went, or didn’t go.
